DPS vs. Healing pt. 1

There's an interesting dilemma cropping up throughout the various realms, and my guild is not excluded from this. We have a very hard time getting healing together for things as basic as Karazhan. But first...

A Personal History Lesson:

I rolled a Paladin specifically because our guild needed people to be full time paladins (It wasn't required or anything, I just wanted to help out), I went into the Holy tree assuming it would be like a Shaman, capable of main healing 5-man's with the right gear, instead, I got this freakishly overpowered beast of a healer, in plate, who could tank fairly well. Well, turns out I made a great decision because the guild needed healers in the end-game bad.

I looked at all the priests, druids, and shamans in our guild (many of whom have been around since I took a hiatus around the era of 2.0), and thought to myself "Aren't they healers?" WRONG! They were Shadow Priests, Feral Druids, and Enhancement Shaman. I was completely baffled, my world was turned upside down, before TBC things like this were down right frowned upon and were generally useless in the end-game. I hit outland, and do you know what I saw? Feral tanks, EVERYWHERE... where were all the warriors at? Dual-Wielding and using Two-Handers... nothing made sense anymore. Fast Forward to the present day, and the patches and future patches are trying to smooth things out. I see less Feral druids as of late, many have turned into celery druids. There also seems to be a lot of changes around the corner for shaman and priests as well.

So is Blizzard trying to fix the issue with their nerfs or are they just making the other specs less viable instead of buffing healers?

I can't blame the Priest for not wanting to go Holy, as the tree is horrible; however, I have a Druid, and the Resto tree is outstanding!

I don't know enough about Shamans to comment, but I've heard their Resto tree is on par with a Priest' Holy tree.

I am respeccing my Paladin back to protection tonight, I just can't adjust from my normal HoT healing style on my Druid. Also, I miss the various group PvP elements of Protection. My Priest friend wanted to know why I couldn't cast BoP on him, I told him the cooldown was only 4 mins with a Protection spec. He said he would pay for the respect back to Protection, so I'm taking him up on the offer.
